Lagarde: “Economic growth for Greece, for the first time!”

However, she stressed that there are still more structural reforms that need to be completed and a lot of work to be done

“We finally see economic growth in Greece”, said the general director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde.

Mrs. Lagarde – speaking at the Spring meeting of the IMF and World Bank – she added that “trust in Greek economy has been restored” and that Greece is on the right track.

The head of IMF also stressed that Greece “made important steps” and that “direct investments will return to Greece”.

“I share the concern of Greek people, because I know the figures for unemployment and I know that these have particular impact on youth, those who have studied and now face the unemployment” said Mrs. Lagarde.

When asked whether she can state something promising for the Greek citizens, she said: “There are some improvements. We finally see positive growth for the first time. So, my hope is that since trust is restored, although many structural reforms need to be done, investments will increase”.
