Municipality of Athens free festivities

Greek singer-songwriter Kostis Maraveyas will be leading the line-up prepared by the Municipality of Athens at various areas around the city on New Year’s Eve. Those braving the cold can enjoy events at Klafthmonos Square, Panormou and Larisis Paved Roads early in the evening and head to the Maraveyas concert at Apostolos Pavlos Paved Road at the foot of the Acropolis at Thisseion at 11 p.m. in the evening. The Athens Philharmonic will open events, followed by the Athens Symphony Orchestra and Maraveyas. And that’s just for starters as the Greek Music Workshop and other singers will also be present.

24-hour marathon at SIX D.O.G.S

SIX D.O.G.S hosts its annual New Year’s Eve extravaganza with music and various happenings. 10 p.m. in the garden with gluwhein and festive sweets until the clock strikes midnight with a traditional Vasilopita for guests as well as the breaking of the pomegranate as is traditional in Greece. From 1 p.m. there will be parties in two separate areas. The Gig Space hosts BODJ, Chevy, Katou, Lemos, Lex Lostra, Mr. Statik, Pan and Runner and The Bar has the Residents. A huge New Year’s Eve party is being held at the building of Ethniki Asfalistiki on Syngrou Avenue. Two stages will be filled with various names from the local and international scene. The Insomnia Stage will feature Luca Bacchetti, upcoming German Sante, Greek CJ Jeff and Mihalis Safras, Gus & Bonso and Roni Iron. The Show Me Love Stage features Johnny Gerontakis, Agent Greg, Kid Angelo, Zenn and Second Sense. The party kicks off after midnight and will carry on to the morning hours with plenty of surprises. The marathon dance trip party organized at the historic Akrotiri club at Agios Kosmas is an audiovisual experience. The party carries on to lunch time with party goers treated to music by the Astral Projection, a symbol of trance music as well as Liquid Soul.
