Maine mass shooting: 22 dead, dozens injured, manhunt underway

A person of interest has been identified, Lewiston Police officials said

At least 20 people are believed to be dead from a mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday evening, according to multiple sources briefed on the situation.Dozens of other people were injured, sources said.

The person of interest, identified as Robert R. Card, 40, is still at large and has been on the run for hours, law enforcement said.

The shooting may have unfolded in multiple locations, including a bowling alley where a children’s league was taking place and a local bar, officials said.

Sources at the newspaper revealed that Card had spent two weeks in a psychiatric hospital over the summer.

The 40-year-old is said to have said he heard “voices” while threatening to attack the military base where he served as a firearms instructor.
