A major ant-terror raid was conducted by Belgian authorities in the region of Schaerbeek, Brussels.

Belgian media reports claim that at least three explosions were heard and that a man was “neutralized” by police during the raid, without mention though whether the person is dead or not.

Shortly after the beginning of the operation, lacapitale.be posted a video showing police dragging a suspect, stressing that the man has been injured.

 

Some residents also posted videos of the police operation on their social network accounts.

The operation was conducted near Meiser Square and involved special units, according to RTBF, while tram which was passing in the area was evacuated.

“You have no idea what is happening there,” a local police officer told RTBF journalists at the scene and asked them to retreat.

Belga news agency reported citing French police sources that raid is linked to the terror plot that was foiled in France on Thursday.

The police arrested a person at a bus stop,” a local resident told RTL Belgium. “They ordered the person to remove his jacket, probably to see if he had an explosive belt or not.”
