“Markets reaction frightened SYRIZA,” Government spokeswoman says

Ms. Voultepsi noted that even SYRIZA was frightened by the markets’ reaction and was forced to tone down its rhetoric.

Talking to private Mega TV on Monday, Government spokeswoman Sofia Voultepsi underlined that the reason the markets reacted negatively was the statement made by main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, which questioned the validity of the current government’s commitments towards Greece’s lenders.

Ms. Voultepsi noted that even SYRIZA was frightened by the markets’ reaction and was forced to tone down its rhetoric.

Regarding the presidential elections, the Government spokeswoman noted that she feels confident than the government will have the 180 votes needed for the election for the President in order for the country to be saved.
