Measles: Alarm for spread in hospitals – Vaccination of healthcare workers urgently needed

Health service facilities, such as public hospitals, are focal points that require attention for disease transmission.

The Ministry of Health is attempting to prevent any potential outbreaks of measles in hospitals amidst general concern about the resurgence of measles, following the last epidemic in 2017-2018.

In Greece, eight cases of measles have been confirmed so far, a relatively small number compared to other European countries, but with the potential to multiply.

Health service facilities, such as public hospitals, are focal points that require attention for disease transmission.

Unvaccinated healthcare workers, in particular, may trigger intense spread.

Given these circumstances, the Ministry of Health is requesting detailed information regarding immunity to measles among healthcare professionals.
