Mega Channel eliminated from TV licensing procedures

Savvidis and Cypriot company also ‘knocked out’

Greek television station ‘Mega channel’, which has been broadcasting since 1991, has been eliminated from the procedures for the procurement of new broadcast licenses. According to a statement released by the General Secretariat of Information and Communication, the Greek television stations that moved to the next phase were: Skai TV, Star channel, Ant1 TV, Alpha and two companies of Bladimiros Kalogritsas and Evangelos Mariniakis and Epsilon TV. The other two companies eliminated from the procedures were Dimera Media Investments that belongs to football clubs PAOK’s President, Ivan Savviddis and the company from Cyprus, ITV CP. The six remaining companies in the race will be competing for 4 television national broadcasting licenses, while the eliminated companies have a 10-day period on which to present any objections to their eliminations. The licensing process is scheduled to end between August 12 and 17.
