The two candidates for the leadership of New Democracy, Vagelis Meimarkais and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, sent their final message to ND’s supporters with less than 24 hours to go before the polls open.

“I believe I will win,” Mr. Mitsotakis told MEGA TV channel adding that “SYRIZA will be very worried, if I am elected president of New Democracy”. He also reiterated that he would bring a new era for New Democracy, since he believes that most voters will cast their vote bearing in mind the next Greek elections.

Referring to the interior affairs of the party he noted that “If I win, I will have a strong mandate to turn over a new leaf in New Democracy’s history. The dilemma is stagnant or creative renewal”.

Evangelos Meimarakis talking to newspaper Parapolitika stated that “there will be neither winners nor losers” stressing that only “New Democracy will win” and “all together, united, we will start the ideological reconstruction of our party”.

Mr. Meimarakis also said that New Democracy “will fight in the Parliament and in society, we will be close to the citizens, to overthrow the government policy that creates new deadlocks”.
