Meimarakis: Current parliament must form government

It is a matter of national interest, he says

Evangelos Meimarakis, leader of major opposition party New Democracy (ND) repeated that forming a government was still possible, in an interview to Skai TV, Tuesday. The leader of ND said Tsipras is holding the elections so that he can lose and ‘run away’, while he accused the Greek PM of representing economic interests. Meimarakis called on Greek PM Alexis Tsipras to explain why he chose to hold elections at a time when the Greek economy needs political  stability to find its footing. “He must explain why we are going to elections, why we are entering instability”, he stressed. The experienced politician called for a ‘national understanding’, adding that forming a government from the current parliament was a matter of ‘national interest’. “All political forces must find a channel of communication”, he said.
