Merkel: The meeting with PM Tsipras will not substitute institutions evaluation

A message in view of the Berlin meet

Angela Merkel seems to have “spilled the beans” to Bloomberg news agency about the difficulty of negotiations with Greece.

Calling upon an official of the German Chancellor’s party who spoke under anonymity, Bloomberg states that Mrs. Merkel underlined that Germany must do everything in its power to overcome difficulties with Greece.

The official clarified, however, that the upcoming meeting between the German Chancellor and the Greem PM will not substitute for the evaluation of Athens by the institutions.

The meeting between the CDU party members and Angela Merkel took place behind closed doors.

The ‘talk’ was confirmed by Reuters news agency which states that Merkel mentioned that “Germany is a country that must do everything in its power in order to secure progress”, and added that she invited Mr. Tsipras to Berlin because dialogue must be encouraged during periods of crisis.

Earlier, the Parliament whip of the CDU MPs stated that everything must be done so that Greece remains in the Euro, adding that the Greek side must change its behavior towards European partners and promote reforms.
