Milk prices reduced by 5-10%, Deputy Development Minister says

Regarding the effectiveness of the measure extending milk shelf life, Mr. Giakoumatos refused to make any comments.

Deputy Development and Competitiveness Minister Gerassimos Giakoumatos stated in a press conference on Monday that milk prices are 5-10% lower in all supermarkets since September 22, excluding special officers and discounts.

Supermarkets and dairy companies responded to the ministry’s appeal to show their commitment to corporate social responsibility and lower the prices, the deputy minister said.

Regarding the effectiveness of the measure extending milk shelf life, Mr. Giakoumatos refused to make any comments.

However, he left open the possibility for the ministry to re-examine the measure in December.

The ministry’s next target is the detergents sector, the Deputy Development Minister added. More specifically, Mr. Giakoumatos has commissioned a study and come into contact with representatives of the sector
