Mistotakis: Tsipras is the biggest liar since 1974

New Democracy must present convincing oplitical rhetoric to public

Leader of Greece’s major opposition party New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the timing was ‘politically good’ for the conservative party addressing a ND event Monday in Athens. He added, however, that the timing for the country was problematic and attacked Greek PM Alexis Tsipras accusing him of ‘having told the greatest lies after 1974’ in Greek politics. Mistotakis added that ruling left party SYRIZA had been discredited in the conscience of the Greek public. The recently elected ND leader made reference to a series of polls where New Democracy had overtaken SYRIZA by a substantial margin that ‘was widening’. Commenting on the Greek government’s negotiations with the county’s creditors, he claimed they were on a tight rope. Finally, he underlined the dramatic situation the Greek people were in, underlining that New Democracy had to put forward a convincing political platform as the people were justifiably suspicious towards the traditional parties.
