Moderna withdraws 764,900 doses Covid-19 vaccine after a vial was contaminated

These installments were distributed in Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden in January

Moderna has announced today that it has withdrawn 764,900 doses of its Covid-19 vaccine after a foreign contaminated particle was found inside a vial made by Rovi.

These installments were distributed in Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden in January.

The company said the infection was detected in only one vial and that it was recalling the entire batch for “maximum precaution”.

Moderna stressed that it does not believe the infection poses a risk to other bottles in the batch.

No safety issues have been identified, the pharmaceutical company added.
