Monti’s statements about Greece’s reforms

The former Italian Prime Minister was interviewed by a Greek newspaper

“If I was German, I’d be proud of Greece, I could count it among the countries that have changed their culture”, said, among other things former Italian Prime Minister, Mario Monti.

“If Greece had not joined the Eurozone, it would not have the culture of a social market today”, added Mr. Monti, and suggested that in the case of Greece “there were mistakes made from either side, including the Troika”.

“The euro is the biggest export product of Germany and so I believe that the European North should look at the glass as half-full”, and added that populism “was not only successful in the European South, but in countries such as France. Populists reject the complexity of the situation and attach themselves to simplistic political proposals. All this means that European integration is less”.
