More hirings than dismissals in July

189,572 new job positions were created from January to July

According to the Labour ministry’s “Ergani” report, the hirings-dismissals balance in Greece showed a surplus of 13,275 new jobs in July.

From January to July, 189,572 new job positions were created compared to 91,611 jobs new jobs created last year. The data announced show the best seven-month performance since 2001.

Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis, commenting on the report, said: “It is very encouraging to see that the private payroll employment continues its positive performance.”

He also stressed that “employment prospects are positive. This year’s increased tourism boosts total employment, whereas the front-loaded implementation of employment support programs funded by the European Social Fund and the new NSRF starts”.
