Morocco: Every day almost 15 children are being abandoned

Slightly increased compared to 2009 were 5,274 cases were recorded

During an intervasion in Parliament, the Minister of Justice and Liberties Mustafa Ramint reported that a total of 5,377 cases of abandoned children in 2013 which is almost 15 per day, were examined by the courts in Morocco. The numbers are Slightly increased compared to 2009 were 5,274 cases were recorded.
The Minister presented a detailed description of the initiatives undertaken by the Government to address the phenomenon of “children without identity”, which mainly consists of “encouraging families to take care (these children)” in order to be able to enroll in civil registers and obtain an “official identity”.
