Moscovici: “Greek government is on track! Let’s give them 3 billion euros!”

The European Commissioner believes that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ turnaround is going to pay off

European Commission Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici reassured France’s privately owned French radio broadcaster, Europe 1, that cooperation with the Greek government is “very good”. He said that the Greek government has made a huge turnaround and said that he is very optimistic that French President Francois Hollande is visiting Athens.

“Alexis Tsipras is a man who made a turn, a transformation,” he said. “The Greek case is on track. Greece made a number of reforms, and we will give them the money – three billion euroe in all. Then we will examine where the program stands.”

Moscovici estimates that the issue concerning the recapitalization of Greek banks and the Greek debt will be addressed in November-December as long as reforms continue, pointing to the need of the Greek government to keep its “constructive attitude” when dealing with its partners.
