Moscovici : Vat taxation in private education should be either 23% or none

He clarified that it is not feasible to use different VAT rates in different educational levels

Pierre Moscovici, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, responding to a query on VAT rate for private education he said that the government should impose either a 23% VAT or none.

Asked by Maria Spyraki, MEP of New Democracy, on the taxation of private education, Mr. Moscovici clarified that it is not feasible to use different VAT rates in different educational levels and that according to an EU Directive, in case the government decides to impose taxes, the private education should be taxed by 23%.
