Kostas Polyzos’ parents may have been responsible for killing his dad too

Police investigations into the murder of Kostas Polyzos, aged 23, by his own mother and stepfather five years ago are continuing. Greek daily Espresso reports that the prosecution is planning to open the cold case file into the death of the young man’s father that took place 15 years ago.

The death of the the young man’s father had been considered heart failure, however recent information concerning the activities of Despina Koutsengou and her partner, Christos Dios, have raised new questions into the earlier death.

The small community of Siatistas is outraged by the crime. Shortly after the murder, the young man’s stepfather had said that a 250,000-euro loan in the name of the young man may have played a role in the murder. He was known to rush to newspapers and beg priests to make announcements concerning the missing boy that he himself had killed. Dios’ colleagues at the Public Power Corporation had told protothema.gr at the time of the murder that Dios had expressed fears that people at the village were trying to pin the murder on him.
