ND parliamentary spokesman: Government scored a series of own-goals with ENFIA tax

“We delayed to do what we were supposed to and this is why taxation is heavy,” New Democracy parliamentary spokesman Adonis Georgiadis told SKAI TV on Monday

The new single property tax, knows as ENFIA was a complicated issue from the very start, both in terms of legislation and calculation, New Democracy parliamentary spokesman Adonis Georgiadis told SKAI TV on Monday.

He admitted that “the Government scored a series of own-goals with ENFIA tax.”

However, he added that in 80 percent of the cases, the tax has worked well as it is lower than the Special Fee for Electrified Structured Surfaces (EETIDE).

On the broader tax policy, Mr. Georgiadis stressed that “we delayed to do what we were supposed to and this is why taxation is heavy.”

Referring to the presidential election, he noted that the climate has changed completely in the parliament and that the chances for a President of the Republic to be elected are 50%.

He also stressed that there is a mind shift among independent MPs regarding this issue.
