Neoclassical buildings in Plaka go under the hammer

Most of the 12 listed buildings are badly in need of repairs

The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) is putting twelve neoclassical buildings at the foot of the acropolis under the hammer. Most of these houses in Plaka are old Public Trust Buildings – most of them abandoned and in a state of severe disrepair with certain exceptions. Most of the buildings would need to be renovated in accordance with the restrictions for such repairs placed on buildings in the area.

Due to the sensitive nature of these protected (listed) buildings and their significance, the HRADF notes that the right of ownership will be for 99 years at the end of which the property will return to the Greek State.

The twelve buildings in the Plaka region are part of 26 buildings that are being placed for auction online.
