“Night of Culture” – Athens celebrates winter solstice with over 50 events

Reading, theatre, gallery walks for free for the night around Athens

More than 50 Athenian cultural institutions and galleries will open their doors, from early afternoon until late at night to welcome the public in celebration of the largest night of the year that marks the official start of winter, with a series of events entitled “Night of Culture”.

Members and collaborators of the Athens Culture Net of the Municipality of Athens will welcome the citizens of the Greek capital on the night of the winter solstice offering theatrical plays, music performances, screenings, video art, cinema, readings, exhibitions, guided tours, and night walks in the galleries, while the “lights” of culture will remain open after December 21 with additional actions, on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 December.

Concert Hall & Music Library Lillian Voudouri Association “Friends of Music”

The Athens Concert Hall and the Music Library “Lillian Voudouri” of the Association “Friends of Music” participate by extending the operation of the Exhibition “My galaxy: Mikis Theodorakis” until 21.00.
At 19.00 there will be a guided tour by the curators of the Exhibition, while at 20.00 the public will be able to enjoy a night tour of the big Exhibition.

Foundation of the Hellenic World

Screening at the Virtual Reality Dome entitled: “Tour of the Ancient Agora”, at 18:00. Reservation of seats in the call center of the Hellenic World – tel .: 212 254 0000.
The spectators are guided in the area of the Ancient Agora and under the guidance of a special museum educator, they have the opportunity to choose the route they will follow.
