Nikos Androulakis is the new leader of the Movement for Change (KINAL), prevailing against George Papandreou in the second round of the party’s elections.
Nikos Androulakis is ahead with 68.11%, against 31.89% of George Papandreou with 86.96% of the ballots counted, while in three polling stations the ballot box was canceled: 1. Anchialos (Volos), 2. Eretria, 3. Orchomenos (who there was also an episode).
The electoral process saw a large turnout of the voters on Sunday, breaking the record set for a second-round compared to 2017. The polls closed at 7:30 in the afternoon, while initially it was supposed to close at 7 p.m.
The electoral process went smoothly and more than 206,000 cast their ballots at the polling stations.
PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated the new leader over the phone.
