Italian firemen encountered the wreckage in the car deck

Photographs from the car deck of the Italian ferry Norman Atlantic were published on brindisioggi.it. Visual imagery shows the full extent of the damage caused by the tragic fire that broke out on December 28, 2014, as the ferry was traveled the Atlantic Sea. The Italian fire brigade encountered hundreds of burnt cars, metal parts and wreckage when they entered the car deck. Burnt bodies of the 18 passengers that remain missing were not found say reports.

The investigation so far has shown that the fire began on the third and fourth decks before spreading upwards as the top two decks were intact. Operations are underway to clear the wreckage so that the exact cause of the accident can be revealed.
