Opposition likens education minister to … Kim Jong Un! – Leftist govt to scrap English-language study programs at univs

Potami party: ‘We are returning to everything that failed in the past, at the very moment when we’re rushing to cover lost ground with other developed countries’

The centrist Potami party ridiculed the relevant education minister on Friday after his decision to abolish … three English-language undergraduate programs in three tertiary schools, calling him “Kim Jong Baltas”.

“The English-language departments, which attract foreign students, boost the country’s outward view and bring in revenue to empty coffers, are the latest victims of the minister’s ideological obsessions,” the Potami statement read, referring to Education Minister Aristidis Baltas.

“… We are returning to everything that failed in the past, at the very moment when we’re rushing to cover lost ground with other developed countries. What else is left for Mr. Baltas to destroy?” the party announcement read.

Potami also referred to Baltas’ other utterly controversial decision, namely, to abolish secondary level magnet schools admission based on placement exams.
