Parliament: In the Tropaion Hall the royal emblems of Otto – See photos

The crown, scepter and sword of the first king of the Greek state were found in the summer of 2023, in the former royal estates in Tatoi

The Royal Emblems of Otto: crown-scepter-sword will be housed in the Eleftherios Venizelos Trophy Room of the Hellenic Parliament for the next forty-nine years, until 2073.

Discovered by the Ministry of Culture in the summer of 2023 at the former royal estates in Tatoi, these emblems of Greece’s first king were handed over to the Hellenic Parliament in a special ceremony. The President of the Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas, received the relics from the Minister of Culture, Ms. Lina Mendoni.

Mr. Tasoulas emphasized that the unveiling is not just about revealing emblematic memories but also about teaching historical lessons. He highlighted the importance of these relics for understanding a significant period in Greek history. Ms. Mendoni described the journey of these emblems to Greece, underscoring their importance as historical relics of the Greek nation. She noted that the hall is the only appropriate place for their display.

The event was attended by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Thomas Bagger, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Andreas Kindl, the Vice-President of the Parliament Mr. Vasileios Viliardos, MPs Mr. Georgios Stamatis, Mr. Aristotelis Spanias, Ms. Athina Linou, Mr. A. Zerveas, and the Special Secretary of the Parliament Mr. Vasileios Bagiokos.
