Parliament votes in favor of lifting immunity for 3 deputies

The plenary voted against lifting the immunity of SYRIZA deputy Yiannis Stathas.

The Parliament Plenary voted on Wednesday in favor of lifting immunity from prosecution for three deputies, namely New Democracy deputy Nikitas Kaklamanis, PASOK MP Michalis Kassis and Golden Dawn MP Ilias Panagiotaros.

More specifically, a total of 135 deputies voted in favor of stripping Mr. Kaklamanis of his immunity, for a case related to the violation of environmental conditions during his term as mayor, while 33 deputies voted “no”.

For Michalis Kassis, who faces a law suit, 136 deputies voted ‘yes’ and 32 ‘no’.

Finally, the parliament decided to strip Mr. Panagiotaros of his immunity from prosecution over two cases: a lawsuit for defamation and an attack against a migrant. 178 deputies voted ‘yes’, while there was an invalid vote.

It should also be noted that the plenary voted against lifting the immunity of SYRIZA deputy Yiannis Stathas.
