The visitors will have the opportunity to explore an Acient Athens neighborhood lying among the building’s foundations

Τhe visitors of Acropolis Museum will soon be able to admire the findings unearthed during the construction of the museum’s beautiful building, in an outdoor exhibition showcasing a charming neighborhood of Ancient Athens.

The Central Archaeological Council (KAS) recently gave the green light for this permanent exhibition which, according to reports, will display approximately 1,400 items on the museum’s underground level.
According to KAS officials, the aim of the exhibition that will be divided into three parts, is to highlight lesser-known eras in the ancient city, such as the Roman period and also to present the visitor with aspects of the Ancient Athenians everyday life.

The first section of the exhibition titled “Before the City,” will include items dating to between 3000 and 750 BC. The second section, titled “On the City’s Periphery” will present artifacts for 750 to 480 BC. The third and largest section, “Life in the City,” will shed light on everyday life in Ancient Athens between the 5th century BC and AD 1200.
