Did you know that Samos is home to the Meditteranean Chameleon? The Mediterranean Chameleon (Chamaeleo Chamaeleon) is a rare species of reptile. The only population of this species in Greece survives on the island of Samos. Its most impressive feature is the ability to adjust the color according to its environment to avoid attacks by its predators. Archipelagos’ Terrestrial Research Team, being aware of the rarity of the species and of the responsibility this brings, has begun to monitor populations of this rare species since 2009, combining field research with awareness raising efforts.
