Plans to bring more Turkish tourists to Greece

Last year, an estimated million Turks visited Greece, and the number may rise if visa restrictions are eased up

18 Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) deputies have put forth a bill in Greek Parliament to allow for 72-hour visas for Turks visiting Thrace, Eastern Macedonian and the Aegean islands. The proposal hopes that visas-on-arrival for Turkish nationals would increase the stream of tourism from Turkey to Greece.

The deputies noted that the visa application process that Turks go through to enter Greece is expensive and tiresome and creates too much red tape for Turkish visitors.
