PM A. Samaras kicks off election campaign in Larisa

“Nobody has the right to play with the subsidies of Greek farmers,” said Prime Minister A. Samaras

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said that nobody has the right to jeopardize economic growth during his visit to a model unit for the production and processing of berries in the village of Mataranga, near Larisa. Mr. Samaras was shown around the premises and spoke to young forces who created the export-based cooperative in central Greece.

“The future for the Greek farmer is manifested through these large, innovative units that represent tomorrow, providing potential,” said Mr. Samaras. “They are exporting units that support the farmer who wants to differentiate his production and do something different.”

“Our farmers have the ability to support new dreams with 20 billion euros that is ensured from the European Union,” said Mr. Samaras, adding that nobody has the right to “tear down the potential for something new”. He said that nobody has the right to play with the subsidies of Greek farmers. “This is the Greece of tomorrow, this is the Greece we’re building,” he said.

Mr. Samaras had also visited a model quality control unit for agricultural products before stroling through the square of Sofades village in Karditsa. On Saturday afternoon he is scheduled to speak at a central hotel in Larisa.
