PM Mitsotakis announces energy measures for households and businesses (video)

There will be 4 interventions

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is presenting the government plans to deal with the energy crisis by providing subsidies to support Greek households and businesses that are feeling the impact of the inflated electricity bills.

Government officials spoke of a dynamic intervention by Mitsotakis, in order to support employees and pensioners.

The PM said that the energy re-adjustment clause would be suspended, while there would support for household owners via the reimbursement in bank accounts of up to 600 euros.

He said that the national support program would be aimed at aiding the less privileged, admitting that many faced huge electricity hikes, adding that the new plan reimburse 60% of the extra costs suffered.

There would be a 50% discount, while energy companies would be called to contribute for the alleviation of society.

Following the announcement of the measures, which are expected to include a ceiling on electricity purchase prices – most likely from July 1 – the specialization of the package is expected. This will be done tomorrow Friday, at 8.30 am, by the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras, the Minister of Environment and Energy Costas Skrekas, the Deputy Minister of Finance Theodoros Skylakakis, the General Secretary of Fiscal Policy Thanos Petralias, and the General Secretary of Energy.
