PM Tsipras asks for consensus while lashing out at opposition

He talks about national consensus, but he continues the political confrontation

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras called the leader of main opposition party New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, yesterday in an attempt to reach consensus and define a national stance on refugees and migrants issue.

However, a few hours later Mr. Tsipras lashed out at Mr. Mitsotakis, who is in favor of a common stance on refugee issue.

The prime minister said that he plans to convene a meeting of political leaders before the extraordinary EU summit to be held on 6 -7 March.

Mr. Tsipras talks about national consensus, but at the same time he continues the political confrontation referring to corruption and economic program issues.

Yesterday, Mr. Tsipras presented to the Parliament a letter of Walter Borjans on the “hesitation”, as he claimed, of the previous government to cooperate with North Rhine-Westphalia on “possible indications” of Greek tax dodgers.
