According to “El Economista” newspaper

The leader of Spain’s newish version of SYRIZA, “Podemos”, is under investigation for tax evasion.

Pablo Iglesias’ party has neared the top of Spanish opinion polls in just 13 months after it was founded.

According to Spanish newspaper “El Economista”, Iglesias is being investigated for tax fraud, which, if proven, will be a huge blow to a leftist political formation dedicated to combating tax evasion.

According to the paper, Spanish authorities are investigating the 36 year-old’s tax forms. He declared an income of 69,696 euros in 2013. Tax inspectors are also investigating the possibility of a connection between Venezuelan (regime) money and a TV station owner who supports Podemos.

Responding on his Twitter account, Iglesias said that if the government wants to check the party’s bank accounts, it can do so through its website.
