Police arrests convicted terrorist Xiros’ close associate

He is a 37-year-old Albanian national known by the name Theocharis

A close associate of convicted terrorist Christodoulos Xiros, who was recently recaptured by the Greek police, has been arrested in Kalamata, along with a new recruit of Xiros’ terrorist group.

The two men were arrested late on Tuesday by the Special Anti-terrorist Unit. According to information, the new recruit of Xiros group is a 54-year-old Greek national with a criminal record who is a known antiauthoritarian activist.

The second arrestee is a 37-year-old Albanian national known by the name “Theocharis,” who was renting the house at Anavyssos where the convicted terrorist was hiding all these months. Theocharis has been introducing himself to the neighbors as an officer of the Greek navy.

Both men are reportedly close associates of Xiros and they are believed to have fled to Kalamata, the 54-year-old Greek’s hometown, immediately after the terrorist’s arrest. Their involvement in different offenses is currently being investigated by the police and they will be led to the prosecutor’s office for questioning in the next few hours.

Fugitive terrorist Christodoulos Xiros, also known as a “Manolis” of the Revolutionary Organization 17 November (17N) was arrested at Anavyssos in the Attica region on January 3. According to an announcement by Public Order Minister Vassilis Kikilias, Mr. Xiros had been targeting Korydallos prison where he hoped to free members of the terrorist organization known as Cells of Fire (Pyrines tis Fotias).
