A group of “anti-state” youth and young adults attempted to break a riot police blockade of the Athens university’s main administration building on Wednesday afternoon, only to be turned back.
The roughly 100 people gathered at a rally tried enter the building to join a smaller group of “comrades” that have occupied the premises for more than two weeks.
The building’s occupation is amongst the most prominent protests over the past month by self-styled anarchists and anti-establishment activists around Greece, aimed to abolish a series of laws related to urban terrorism and hooliganism, such as the “hoodie” law, for instance.
They also want to abolish … mamixum security prisons and the conditional release of convicted terrorist Savvas Xiros on health reasons.
