Potami leader visits Lesvos island; announces proposals on migration issue

He urged Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to introduce a national policy on the migration issue

Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis visited on Wednesday the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos, which is turning into a new “Lampedusa” as some 3,000 illegal migrants — all from Third World countries — have arrived just in 2015!

During his visit on the island, Theodorakis went to the island’s main port, where the authorities take the migrants and refugees that are found in the sea or on the island’s beaches and talked with coast guard officials and migrants.

He also urged Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to introduce a national policy on the migration issue and presented to the press his party’s proposals to deal with the specific problem.

The proposed measures include the enhancement of Frontex and efforts to reach an understanding with Turkey. “We must have an understanding with Turkey because right now there are two million refugees in Turkish camps,” he said.
