PM Alexis Tsipras arrives in Davos

He will hgave a series of meetings to talk about the economic crisis, the foreign policy and the cooperation with other countries

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras arrived at Davos to participate in the World Economic Forum which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday along with more 2500 participants.

Mr. Tsipras communicated his arrival through his Twitter account by posting a picture of the snowy Davis mentioning saying “Arrived in Davis where we’ll be advocating for sustainable growth, social cohesion and inclusion”.

Shortly afterwards, Mr. Tsipras posted another photo showing him and US Vice President Joe Biden to inform that he has already started the scheduled meetings.

The economic crisis, the foreign policy, the cooperation with other countries and the situation in the wider area are expected to dominate Tsipras’ contacts on the sidelines of the forum.

On Wednesday, Tsipras will meet with the head of the World Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab, at 16:15-16:30, German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel, at 17:30-18:00, and EU Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici, at 19:00-19:30, to discuss economic issues. He will also meet US Vice President Joe Biden, at 13:30-14:00, to discuss bilateral relations, the situation in Syria and the Balkans, the Cyprus issue as well as economic issues.

On Thursday, he will participate in a panel with German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble to talk on the Greek programme. He will also have meetings with US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, at 14:45-15:15, and IMF chief Christine Lagarde, at 17:00-17:30, in order to clear out the role of the Fund in the Greek program and discuss upon the Greek debt and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, at 20:00-20:30.

On Friday, Tsipras will also meet with ECB president Mario Draghi, at 09:45-10:15, and at 11:15-11:45 with Ukranian President Petro Poroshenko.
