Pro-war bill leads to fistfight in Japanese Parliament

Japanese brawl in Parliament

Japan’s upper house gave the green light for new legislation allowing the armed forces to conduct warfare abroad. The new law has come under fire as it changes Japan’s stand for the first time in 70 years since the end of WWII. Mass protests and controversy surrounding the new bill have divided Japanese society.

Opponents of the bill brawled with lawmakers of the ruling coalition in Japanese Parliament after members of the opposition blocked the building’s doorways and corridors to protest the new law.
