Public Order Minister: Greece has been dealing with terrorism successfully

Vassilis Kikilias’s recent visit to the United States was the focus of his meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras that took place on Monday morning.

Public Order and Citizen Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias’s recent visit to the United States was the focus of his meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras that took place on Monday morning.

Mr. Kikilias briefed the Prime Minister on his meeting with his counterpart, Attorney General Eric Holder. More specifically, the Public Order Minister told Mr. Samaras that the US government congratulated Greece on the way it has been dealing with terrorism as well as its recent successes, that include the arrest of terrorist Nikos Maziotis.

In his statements to the reporters after the meeting, Mr. Kikilias stressed that US Attorney General expressed his satisfaction over the fact that ” in a destabilized region, such as the Mediterranean basin and the Balkans, Greece is a pillar of stability and an ally in the effort of our European partners and the United States for stability in the region.”

The Public Order Minister also told reporters that the issue of jihadists is among the US priorities and that the cooperation between the two countries on this issue will be enhanced as far as information and screening are concerned.
