Putin appoints new ambassador in Greece

Andrei Maslof will replace current Ambassador of Greece Vladimir Chkhikvishvilli

Today, following a government official mandate, President Vladimir Putin has appointed a new Russian ambassador in Greece, the current Director of the 4th European Department of Russian Foreign Ministry, Mr. Andrei Maslof
The relevant mandate was published today in the official government website, while another presidential mandate about the present Russian Ambassador of Greece, Mr.Vladimir Chkhikvishvilli, who is retiring and relieved of his responsibilities, was also published.

The Russian media broadcasting the news underlined that Greece has no plans of tightening the requirements of issuing visas to Russian citizens because of the situation in Ukraine.
59 year old newly appointed Ambassador speaks Greek and three other European languages and has worked since 1977 in Soviet and Russian embassies in Nicosia, Paris, Rome, and among other things has served as deputy director of the Department of Security and Disarmament in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
