Putin breaks protocol, makes statements before host leader during G20

He left before the final statement on the results of the summit was given

By “Breaking” the protocol, Vladimir Putin showed his dislike on the pressure exercised on him during the G20 summit, over the Ukraine issue.

While the protocol provides that the first statements in the media are done by the host of the meeting, the Russian president decided to be the first to turn to the press.

In this way, he managed to leave the summit earlier, since his presidential jet took off from Brisbane before the final communique of the meeting was made public.

The official justification given by the Russian president was that he had a long trip ahead of him, and he lacked sleep.

Regarding the meeting itself, Putin noted that “some of our views did not see eye to eye with others, but discussions were complete, constructive and extremely helpful”.
