Russia: Food and grain exports to be paid in rubles or national currency for “friendly countries”

As of April 1 “unfriendly countries” will have to pay for gas in rubles

Russia will export food and grain only to “friendly countries” with payments in rubles or in their national currency, the Russian news agency RIA reported, citing a statement today by Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council.

This news follows the developments of recent days regarding the payment of Russian gas in rubles.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had signed the decree according to which foreign buyers of gas will have to pay in rubles from April 1 and contracts will be terminated if these payments are not paid.
