Russia’s Admiral Makarov warship has been hit, Ukrainian media report

The reports have not been confirmed by Ukrainian authorities

Russia’s Admiral Makarov warship has been hit by Ukrainian missiles and burst into flames, according to Ukrainian officials.

The frigate would be Russia’s latest naval loss in a troubled campaign, coming after reports that US intelligence helped Ukraine locate and sink the Russian warship Moskva weeks ago.

The news seems to be confirmed by the Ukrainian General Staff but also by a member of parliament from Odessa. According to the Dumskaya TV channel, Russian planes are flying in the Black Sea, as well as rescue ships that started from the Crimea.

The frigate was recently built and is considered an advanced main strike unit of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy.

In particular, the local media cite statements by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko from Odessa, as well as data published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

So far there has been no confirmation from the official authorities. According to local media in Odessa, a fire broke out on the ship last night in the early hours of May 6, causing rescue boats and aircraft to rush to the area. The ship was sailing near the snake islands.
