Schauble: In order to have a powerful eurozone we must have a powerful Greece

Hardouvelis: “Germany offers great help” for accomplishing an exit from the Memoranda

Tonight in Berlin the Greek Minister of Finance had the opportunity to discuss with his German counterpart Wolfgang Schauble about the course of Troikas evaluation and the plans for the prudential line of support.
Mr. Gikas Hardouvelis officially expressed governments satisfaction for the meeting and the course of the processes involved to country’s exit from the Memorandum.
He further stated that: ” We had a very interesting long conversation and we talked about a series of issues, including the progress of reforms in Greece, how do we proceed , how is the current Greek economy and also the fact that the program ends at the end of the year and we must enter into a new relationship from the 1st of January. Germany understands the fact that we must find a solution soon, to delineate this relationship “.
However, the Minister of Finance avoided to publicly mention anything concerning the Troika employees or if there was a request for support from Berlin for loosing up presures in Athens. Mr. Hardouvelis stressed that:” It was a conversation between two countries. Germany has its own opinion and has helped Greece repeatedly. We are looking to find a common solution for the next day”.
Finally, Mr. Hardouvelis highlighted that “Like Germany ,Mr. Schauble is a Europeanist. He wants a strong euro and a strong Eurozone. During our meeting it was expressed that in order to have a powerful eurozone we must have a powerful Greece”.
