Second case of Hepatitis A at Idomeni refugee camp, Reuters reports

Greek officials deny second incident

According to a Reuters report, a second case of Hepatitis A has been detected in the refugee camp at Idomeni, northern Greece. However, the Greek Centre for Prevention of Diseases (KEELPNO) has denied this. Only a few hours after the confirmation that a 9-year old Syrian boy had been diagnosed with Hepatitis A at the Idomeni refugee camp, Reuters claims that another person was transferred to hospital where he was diagnosed as having contracted the disease. President of KEELPNO Thanasis Giannopoulos, however, denied this speaking to Greek TV Sunday morning. The Greek government has been under fire for its total lack of coordination and provision regarding the sanitary conditions at Idomeni camp. NGOs and and volunteers point out the squalid and unsanitary conditions the refugees and illegal immigrants are living under at the camp. Meanwhile, the authorities announced that clean water would be transported to the camp via water trucks.
