Shannen Doherty letting go of belongings preparing for her own death

“My priority at the moment is my mum. I know it’s going to be hard on her if I pass away before her”

Shannen Doherty has shared her decision to let go of her belongings in order to simplify matters for her family in the event of her passing.

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star, who is battling stage 4 breast cancer, opened up about her efforts to clear her storage units and homes during a recent episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast. She explained that she has been donating or selling items to assist her mother Rosa.

Doherty emphasized that her current focus is on her mother’s well-being, expressing concern about the difficulties her passing would pose for her. She expressed a desire to ease her mother’s burden by minimizing the number of possessions she would need to handle, including clearing out multiple storage units filled with furniture.

Proceeds from the sales of her belongings have been directed towards creating cherished memories with her mother. The financial freedom resulting from these sales has allowed her to embark on trips and spend quality time with loved ones without dipping into her estate funds, which are earmarked for the care of her beneficiaries after her passing.

While emotionally challenging, Doherty acknowledged the necessity of parting with her belongings, particularly her property in Tennessee where she had envisioned creating a horse sanctuary. She ultimately recognized that letting go of this property was a pragmatic decision that would facilitate a smoother transition for her loved ones.

Last year, she disclosed that her cancer had metastasized to her brain and bones.
