Six migrant children drown off Turkey’s coast

The ages of the children were unclear, but according to reports one of them was a baby

Six children drowned on Tuesday morning after a rubber boat carrying Afghan refugees to Greece sank off Turkey’s Aegean coast, the Associated Press (AP) reported citing Anadolu Agency, Turkey’s state-run news agency.

Five migrants were rescued by the coast guard, while a search was underway for two missing people.

The bodies of the children were recovered from the sea. The ages of the children were unclear, but according to reports one of them was a baby.

The migrants were reportedly hoping to reach the island of Chios from the resort of Cesme despite bad weather.

In the meantime, another child was found dead at Cesme coast, five-year old Sayinta Ali, while no one knows what happened to her parents and how the child lost its life.
