The fire that caused extensive damage to Sweden’s largest theme park in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Monday remains active and extinguishing it is complicated due to the risk of the building collapsing, the city’s emergency response service said today.

The fire flared up yesterday, Tuesday, afternoon and additional firefighting units were sent to the scene to attempt to bring it under control.
“A fire is raging in the structure and we are unable to enter certain parts of the building to put it out because there is a high risk of collapse,” the department said in a statement today.
“We are in control so that the fire does not spread to neighbouring buildings,” it added.
The agency could not predict when the extinguishment would be completed.

Images from the fire on Monday morning show fireballs shooting out, flames rising and several explosions that destroyed a water slide, while a cloud of black smoke rose over the city.
The police opened an investigation for gross negligence and violation of the labour code.
Sixteen people were evacuated with minor injuries, but none were hospitalised.
