Switzerland: Record auction for Patek Philippe watch

24 million dollars

A gold pocket watch built by watchmaker Patek Philippe for a New York banker in the beginning of the 1930s was sold for 24 million dollars in a Sotheby’s auction, breaking a record held for 15 years.

Henry Graves had commissioned the famous Swiss watchmaker to manufacture the most complicated watch in the world, which exceeded the one he had constructed for James Packard, American car manufacturer.
